What’s new in 3.3?

FastClose 3.3

FastClose 3.3 is here — and it’s packed with new features that make reporting faster, smarter, and more intuitive than ever. From Financial and Operational Reporting to AI search, integration with Microsoft Business Central and usability upgrades, this release brings new functionality and significant improvements across the entire product.

Operational Reporting for Epicor

A major investment in this release. FastClose 3.3 adds targeted, actionable reporting across Inventory, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Sales.

Operational Reporting

Purchasing

Stay ahead of procurement activity with new reporting covering:

  • Purchase Order Suggestions & Changes — report over the output of your PO suggestion and change processing.
  • Vendor Delivery Performance — see at a glance whether your vendors are meeting their fulfilment commitments.

Manufacturing

  • Manufacturing Suggestions — reporting over the output of the Manufacturing Suggestions process.
  • Job Closing support — identify open jobs that are complete and ready to close.
  • Stock Availability — confirm you have the materials on hand to meet your manufacturing pipeline.

Sales

  • Sales Order Fulfilment Performance — are you delivering to your customers on time and in full?
  • Stock Availability — check whether your inventory can meet the demand in your sales pipeline.

Inventory

  • Non-Conformance reporting — track failed quantities and scrappage costs in detail.
  • Discrepant Material Reporting (DMR) — summarise the labour and material costs tied up in DMR records.

Financials Content for Epicor

Financial Reporting

Get a Real-Time P&L Without Running Month-End COS/WIP

Previously, getting an accurate P&L and Balance Sheet meant running the full COS/WIP process first. Not anymore. The new WIP Module lets you produce a complete, accurate picture of your financial position — including data still sitting in WIP — at any point during the month. No waiting for month-end. No manual workarounds. Just the numbers, when you need them.

Microsoft Business Central Support

FastClose now integrates with Business Central, including support for the GL, AR, AP, Sales Order Processing and Purchase Order Processing modules. An amazing yet cost effective new tool for organisations running on BC.

AI

Building on the Chatbot introduced in 3.1, FastClose 3.3 takes AI a big step further.

AI-Generated Report Descriptions

FastClose now analyses the structure and layout of each report and automatically generates a description, summary and suggested name for it. It runs quietly in the background and kicks in wherever descriptions are blank or unchanged. In testing, the results have been spookily accurate  and it saves a lot of manual effort.

AI-Powered Search

Can’t remember the name of a report you built last month? Now you don’t need to. Type what you’re looking for in plain language and FastClose will find it. Try: “margin report created recently by Emma” or “product profitability”. The AI-generated descriptions feed directly into this search, making it more powerful the more you use it.

Excel

Excel Plugin

Suppress Detail Rows in Hierarchies

You can now hide detail rows when displaying reports in Excel, leaving only summary rows visible. The key benefit: row numbers become stable, making it much easier to build Excel models and formulae on top of FastClose output.

Native Excel Table Mode

FastClose now supports Excel’s built-in Table feature. Instead of fragile range-based formulae like =SUM(C2:C1000), you can write =SUM(Table1[Amount]), which works correctly regardless of how many rows the report returns. A much cleaner way to build management report packs, including charts, on top of dynamic data.

Excel Automation

The FastClose Excel Add-in also now supports being called from VBA macros, opening up a new range of automation and integration possibilities for teams that run Excel-based processes.

Report Design

Report Design

Merge label columns

Merge columns and control which column subtotal labels appear in, for cleaner, more readable reports without distracting repetition.

Embedded Catalog Extensions

Add custom SQL to a report to blend in summarised data from other datasets. For example, show total unallocated stock alongside a sales report, without having to build a separate report.

Suppress net-zero transactions

Hide non-zero transactions that cancel each other out. Particularly useful in reconciliation reports where those items just create noise.

Scheduler

Dynamic Dates

Dynamic Date Variables

One of our most-requested Scheduler improvements is here. You can now configure reports using calculated date variables so that scheduled reports always run relative to today’s date. Set a report to always show “deliveries due in the next 2 weeks” and it will stay current automatically: no manual filter editing required before each run. Perfect for scheduled reports but also effective in the client apps.

Usability

Lots of quality-of-life improvements in this release:

Usability

Lots of quality-of-life improvements in this release:

  • Recent Reports tab on the Home dialog — jump straight back to the report you were working on. Simple, but you’ll wonder how you managed without it.
  • Allowable Columns — presents a simple mode initially, which doesn’t complicate the experience with support for nested logical groups and other advanced options.
  • Common Dimensions and Measures — much improved over their initial release in v3.2
  • Planning —preserves cell formulae when report filters change and the report is re-run.
  • Library — a more streamlined experience, waits until you save the report before asking whether to update edited library items.
  • Drill to Kinetic – FastClose has supported URL drill-through for a while, but 3.3 takes it further. With the ERP base URL now configurable directly in the Administration app, you can drill straight from FastClose reports and templates into the Epicor Kinetic or SAP UI — no copying and pasting, no switching context.

Performance

Every release we push to make FastClose faster. 3.3 is no exception:

  • Epicor API efficiency — fewer API calls can save up to 30% on the running time of some reports.
  • Planning submission — caching data that changes infrequently has made submission faster.
  • Very large result sets — optimizations in logic can deliver results up to 25% faster in reports which have to process thousands of rows.
  • Run All now batches – running 3 reports at a time is often quicker overall than running 12 simultaneously.
